The grace we have received from God must be valued highly. Despite opposition and suffering for Christ, we must endure in order to gain the crown.

Whether our excuses are flimsy or ironclad, God sees through all of them.

If we would have God's favor, we must follow God's direction and acknowledge God's sovereignty over us in all aspects of life, business and society.

If we are to grow spiritually, we must apply ourselves to study and apply God's Word.

We should not overlook, downplay or dismiss the real danger of drifting spiritually.

Heavenly Father, tune my ears to your voice. Train my feet to follow your path. Amen.

God's people should be known for doing good works. Rather than stirring up trouble, arguing over theological intricacies or being focused on oneself, we should seek to help people in need.

This play on words seems to recognize the reliance and trust of both Boaz and Ruth upon the Lord, but also the role God has humans play in his plans.

The story of Ruth gives us hope that even though our world may be dark and ugly with sin, God creates beauty through people who respond to his call.

A key principle in disciple-making is that we should not only imitate or follow the words of Jesus, but we should also follow the ways of Jesus.
